I just paid approximately $6,000.00 for draperies, etc for my windows at my home. First of all the promise date of finishing was delayed. But that I could understand as it was Christmas time. But my beef is that for every room there was something. My husband & I had gone into the store with our window measurements frame to frame to floor. Now I had been an interior decorator myself, so I do know how to measure. After explaining what I wanted done per window and having given them the exact measurements of the 3 windows in the dining room, the patio doors in our kitchen, and the window in our family room, (and again the measurements were frame to frame to floor assuming that they would adjust for the appropriate finished fabric widths) when we got everything home and started to install, that is when we noticed all the mistakes. For the patio doors that was a valance going up there with Velcro onto a wood frame rod. The brackets that they included were not long enough (so my husband had to find brackets to use), plus the wood rod itself was not quite long enough (but we improvised and made it work). For the window in our family room, I had 3 drapery panels made up on a decorative rod with the matching fabric tie backs. Now the end tiebacks of course could be put onto hooks into the wall, but the middle tieback should have had a Velcro fastener as it is impossible to put a hook into a window (again had to improvise). And then came the dining room and sheers. First of all I wanted the sheers to be installed on rods just outside the frame so therefore the draperies should have been made wide enough to cover them. Well we got the sheers installed and when we were going to install the draperies when we discovered that they were not wide enough to cover. That is when I phoned the so-called 'designer' to see what they were going to do about it. Well nothing! As apparently this store does not know that fabric width should be wider then the actual measured width for it to look good. Plus the draperies were pinch pleat draperies onto decorative rods & hooks were to be used to install them. Well that would have been okay if the proper rings were supplied, but again the rings were not the right ones either (and again improvising had to be done). Now we had to reinstall the sheers so that they went onto our window frames & that was the only way that the draperies covered them. Plus one of my tie back tassels had some bead work missing. I daresay that after spending that kind of money and the fact that they are supposed professionals and should know what they are doing, well I would not recommend them for doing draperies. Blinds, no problems as they did our blinds as per our specifications and measurements. Also too (and I am still waiting for the promised breakdown) their invoicing of the draperies is very ambiguous. Like there is no real way of identifying what the actual charges are for. Fabric no number nothing, just the total amount paid. Sewing charges, well there is no identification as to what window and what the charge was. For me I believe that I was overcharged for the fabrics but of course the 'designer' could not tell me which charge was for what. All she assured me was that everything was there and that it 'was perfect'. I do not believe so.
