Applying for a tax program related to living with a disability is a process filled with complexity and stress. We recognize that it's often long, drawn-out and challenging, especially for the person with the disability. The government bureaucracy often throws up complex hurdles that can negatively impact anyone by having to constantly prove their eligibility to the program. Whether disabled through disease, illness or accident, we are here to change the experiences of people when they deal with the government. We offer our support, expertise and compassion and work tirelessly to obtain a positive outcome for your application or appeal. We understand disability because we have experienced it in our own immediate family. It is what drives us to make a difference. Our tireless commitment extends beyond the needs of the individual to the disabled community.

LiteracyWorks offers programming with outcomes aimed at providing learners with essential literacy skills to enhance their self-sufficiency and quality of life. We run classes taught by a certified instructor and offer one-to-one tutoring by trained volunteers. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in 2008, making LiteracyWorks the longest-running literacy program in the province. Our Vision, Mission and Values Our Vision: LiteracyWorks envisions a Winnipeg in which all adults are literate and able to participate fully in their cultural, economic and social worlds. Our Mission: Through classes and one-to-one tutoring, and based on the individual needs of each student, LiteracyWorks provides people with essential literacy skills to enhance self-sufficiency and quality of life. These include reading, writing, numeracy and oral communications skills. Our Values: LiteracyWorks aims to provide services in a way that is student-centred, professional, safe, supportive, inclusive and celebratory. If you can read this, you may not consider literacy a priority. You may surf the internet, send emails to colleagues and friends, shop online and discuss the books you read in a book club. For some adults in Manitoba, the reality is very different. They struggle to grocery shop, follow a recipe, fill out an application for employment and can’t read their kids a bedtime story. What is Literacy? Literacy is the ability to understand and employ printed information in daily activities at home, at work and in the community - to achieve one’s goals and to develop one’s knowledge and potential. FACT: 48% of Canadian adults have low literacy skills. Source.

At Balmoral Hall School, our goal is not simply to teach an enriched curriculum. Our programs are designed to build confidence, competence and what experts call “connectedness”, which refers to being a meaningful part of something other than self. Our mission is to help girls build well-balanced foundations for personal and professional success in a changing world. Our teachers understand how girls learn. They are dedicated to bringing out the best in each girl, by encouraging her strengths and providing support in areas that are more difficult for her. While our programs are demanding and our expectations high, the atmosphere is co-operative and supportive. It is an environment in which every girl feels free to believe in herself, to speak out and take academic risks. The success of the BH approach is evident. On average, 99% of our graduates attend the university or college of their choice, and over 75% benefit from scholarships. In addition, our students are more likely to pursue careers in math, science and technology than girls in co-ed public schools. Balmoral Hall is the only school in Manitoba to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program for students in Nursery - Grade 5. The programme enriches the Manitoba curriculum with a global focus and an emphasis on trans-disciplinary skills. Students are engaged in an inquiry based program that is designed to foster the development of the whole child. Girls are provided an education that gives them a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools, built on a relevant and engaging educational framework for all children. Our Urban Campus Balmoral Hall School specializes in education for girls and is located in a historic neighbourhood in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, along the banks of the scenic Assiniboine River.
