I have been a member of Cascadia Martial Arts/ Parksville Taekwondo (prior to name change) for over eight years. I started as a white belt and through hard work and commitment, am proud to have received my second degree black belt last year. Although, a large part of my success is due to my own efforts, I would not have been nearly as successful if it were not for the excellent teaching and inspiring instruction by the Cascadia Teaching Staff. Their kindness, dedication, talent and creative lessons motivated me to work hard and achieve my goals. Not only is Cascadia Martial Arts a great gym for adults, but they are also incredible at working with children. I am an elementary teacher in the area and am well aware of how many students of mine are members as well. They adore coming to taekwondo and are so proud to show off their kicks and their poomsae. I have observed first hand how they interact with and teach children. There is kindness, discipline and respect. Another program that demonstrates their commitment to providing quality martial arts to others, is their program for students with special needs. This holds a special place in my heart as my son has autism. Children with special needs are often excluded from sports activities, however Cascadia believes that with special instructions and differentiated activities, anyone can achieve success. This inclusive environment is so important for these children who want to be involved, but just need some adjustments. I would highly recommend Cascadia Martial Arts. I am so happy to still be a part of this amazing club.
