Enter the Jellybean Row Shop and Gallery and be transfixed by colour. Our collectible art pieces are based on real houses on some of the oldest streets in North America. They are rendered in stretched canvas - our largest, most jaw-dropping format - and plaque mounts. Our popular galvanized steel mailbox has a three-year warranty and our magnets, greeting cards, gift tags, tea towels and even jellybeans make affordable, adorable souvenirs. The canvas is our premium product, its two-inch sidewall lending depth to the side of the houses. Combine them in the canvas-plaque combo and the 3D effect is stunning! The houses have also been redesigned for Christmas, with snow, decorations, and a subtle dusk light that brings out the warm glow in the windows. The original art is created by artists Lisa McKay and Allison Earle, with art direction by company owner, Geoff Meeker. We invite you to visit the gallery, browse the collection and learn how the row houses came to be painted so brightly.

Immerse yourself in our culture at Newfoundland and Labrador's largest public cultural space. It's the place where it all comes together - our history, heritage and artistic expression. The Rooms unites the Provincial Archives, Art Gallery and Museum. A place for people, The Rooms is a portal to the many stories our province has to tell. Soaring into the skyline of historic St. John's, The Rooms combines twenty-first century technology with a striking visual reference to our past. Its unique design mirrors the "fishing rooms" where families came together to process their catch. The Rooms today is also a place to gather: in them, you'll find collections, exhibits and programs that tell our stories and interpret our natural world through art, artifacts, archaeology, architecture and archival records. Precision environmental controls and security system allow The Rooms to safeguard these treasures and bring in travelling exhibits that showcase the best the world has to offer.

Peter Lewis Peter spent most of his early childhood abroad. He spent 2 years in Oxford, England, his country of birth, and five and half years in Kampala, Uganda where his father was a medical doctor. He then grew up in a family of eight in St. John's, Newfoundland where he became an elementary Phys. teacher. He taught in Swaziland, Southern Africa and Ogoki, Northern Ontario in an Ojibwa community before teaching full time in Newfoundland. Peter was exposed to painting as a young adult and became known for doing large 15ft by 25ft backdrops at school concerts. He is an expressionist/pleinairist; one who paints outside. He most often works large scale with pallet knife, brush and oils. The love for his home can be seen in his work. Peter is one of the best long distance runners to come out of Newfoundland and Labrador. He has now redirected the same passion, focus and energy from his training as a runner into his paintings. "As a 'plein-air' Artist I am drawn to powerful composition and color. The Impressionists and Post impressionists especially Pissarro, Monet and Vincent Van Gogh have strongly influenced my painting; and I have followed their story to Paris, Saint-Rémy and Arles. Canadian Artists such as Tom Thomson and A. Jackson have captivated me with their painterly ways. Newfoundland is my home, and where my heart is. My family roots are Irish and French (Murphys from Killkenny, and Lewises from the Channel Islands) going back to the late 1700's." - Peter Lewis.

WHO WE ARE Eastern Edge, created in 1984, was the first artist run centre for visual arts in Newfoundland Labrador. We remain committed to exhibiting contemporary Canadian and international art, as well as encouraging dedicated, rigorous activity locally. In providing an alternative venue where artists have greater control over how their work is represented, Eastern Edge facilitates critical dialogue concerning issues in contemporary art and society, actively encouraging artists whose work speaks to feminist, queer, multicultural, and other socially and politically diverse perspectives. Eastern Edge is a supportive space to develop skills, share information and resources, fostering community and a meaningful context for artistic activity. A cycle of six exhibitions are programmed in the Main Gallery each year, with an annual submission deadline of September15th. In addition to this, Eastern Edge offers many other opportunities for a broad range of artistic expression. The Rogue Gallery is a space dedicated to exhibiting local artist's work and community engaged projects at Eastern Edge Gallery. The annual Art Marathon Festival offers possibilities ranging from interactive installations and performances to workshops and music. The gallery's board of directors are fully committed to the highest standards of professional treatment of artists, in all aspects of the centre's activities. ARE YOU AN ARTIST? Eastern Edge accepts proposals from individuals, groups and collectives in all visual arts media. We are dedicated to cultural diversity in our programming and encourage applications from contemporary artists and curators of diverse communities and backgrounds. Your proposal should include a CV, an artist and/or curatorial statement, a project proposal, a schedule of activities (if applicable), a list of equipment or technical needs, and an image list to accompany your visual documentation.
