Annual General Meeting of Sask Flax Development Commission The SaskFlax Annual General Meeting allows for Directors to report on finances as well as actions undertaken on behalf of grower members in the areas of research, communications and market facilitation. Resolutions will be brought forward for review, discussion, and decision. This year's AGM will be held at 3:30 pm in Gallery D at TCU Place (35 - 22nd Street East, Saskatoon) on January 12, 2015, during CropSphere, Saskatchewan's newest multi-crop ag conference. There is no charge to attend the Annual General Meeting. Resolutions at SaskFlax AGM Resolutions must clearly note the person who is proposing them. A seconder will be called for at the meeting. Resolutions are generally structured by introducing each background point to the issue with the word “Whereas.”. The resolution itself is usually stated, “Be it resolved that..” Resolutions received by the SaskFlax office more than two business days in advance of the start of the AGM require a simple majority (50 per cent) to pass; those introduced during the meeting require a two-thirds majority to pass. The Saskatchewan Masonry Institute (SMI) officially came into being in 1980 when members of the Saskatoon and Regina Masonry Contractors Associations came together to form a province-wide organization. But the roots of SMI go much deeper - back to the province’s early years. The first building boom attracted skilled bricklayers and stone masons from eastern Canada and Europe. Their workmanship lives on in many of our finest buildings - land titles offices, court houses, schools, hospitals and more. Today, SMI is the official voice of the masonry industry in the province. It is comprised of professional masonry contractors and suppliers who are dedicated to the promotion of quality masonry. - SMI promotes and markets masonry to a variety of stakeholders - design professionals, owners & developers, government agencies and municipalities. - SMI represents employers on apprenticeship training through the Apprenticeship Trade Advisory Board and the Curriculum Review Board. - SMI represents the masonry industry in Saskatchewan and is recognized as a source of masonry information for residents.
