The first Jesuit missionaries to Canada were formed and inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola – the same spiritual tradition that is the core of our retreat programs at Manresa. This spiritual tradition teaches us to be men and women for others and to conduct our lives for God’s greater glory. Please join us at Manresa for some time apart with God.

The vision for the Chinese Cultural Centre was immense and consisted of two phases. Phase I saw the construction and development of the heart of the centre. Phase I consisted of the art gallery, resource centre, boardroom, function rooms, classrooms, and offices. The vision and development of Phase I took shape rather quickly and the soul vision of the centre started to come together. The various rooms and boardrooms created a foundational space for community and private events. The modern architecture coupled with the ornate history of Chinese culture drew community intrigue and encouraged cultural curiosity and education within the already diverse microcosm. The centre’s rich background and heritage based events have become a vibrant part of the Scarborough community. In September 2006, Phase II commenced. This expansion included a 626-seat state-of-the-art theatre and an 8, 500-square-foot multi-purpose hall for sports, recreational activities, conventions, exhibitions, and banquets. An additional 1, 600 square foot dace studio space is suitable for various dance genres, yoga, and other movement based performances. The space is appropriate for group instruction or individual rehearsal. There are two recreation rooms, totalling 1, 800 square feet, are furnished with expansive and luxurious wall mirrors ideal for banquets, meetings, receptions, intimate wedding receptions, bridal and baby showers. Once again, the facility buzzed with versatility and endless possibilities
