Our mission is to strengthen the Paralympic Movement in Canada. The Paralympic Movement is a group of individuals and organizations collectively engaged in developing sport and sport-related opportunities for people with a physical disability, so that they can fulfill their personal potential and fully participate in their community. Our vision is a thriving network of individuals, sports organisations, community and government groups working together to give people with a physical disability the chance to benefit from the sense of confidence, empowerment and pride that comes from playing sport at any level. The Canadian Paralympic Committee identity is a combination of the most recognizable Canadian symbol — the maple leaf — and a stylized flame representing the Paralympic Torch and the passion that unites all members of the Paralympic Movement. The logo incorporates the International Paralympic Committee identity. The red, blue and green elements are called Agitos (from the Latin word "agito", meaning "I move"). They encircle a centre point to represent that athletes are coming from all corners of the world to compete together. The unification of the two identities symbolizes CPC’s proud commitment to empowering persons with physical disabilities worldwide through sport. The identity is an expression of partnership, leadership, and fairness, while promoting a strong and vibrant Paralympic Movement across the nation.

We promote a team approach to rehabilitation and in addition to our own team members we as such work closely with other team members including psychologists. This includes liaison with other treating professionals, attendance at team meetings, joint treatment sessions and/or co-leading groups. Additionally, we provide consultation with hospitals/referring facilities to reduce duplication of services while ensuring continuity of care and a smooth transition to the community. We are familiar with the utilization of support services such as occupational therapy assistants (OTA's), physiotherapist assistants (PTA's), communication disorder assistants (CDA's) and rehabilitation aides to promote the generalization of newly acquired strategies between therapy sessions. Our experience and connections within the community facilitate the availability of volunteer rehabilitation placements and work trials. We also provide education and counseling to family members. We provide occupational therapy to a wide range of diagnoses, including: Traumatic & acquired brain injury e. stroke, aneurysm Musculo-skeletal/ soft tissue/ orthopaedic injuries Work related injuries e. back pain, repetitive strain injury Fibromyalgia Chronic pain Low back pain Depression & burnout Congenital conditions, including motor delay; co-ordination difficulties; handwriting difficulties.
