In addition to its role as a developer of elite athletes, CWSA is a national and international voice for Canadian wheelchair athletes. CWSA also provides a national link for the development of wheelchair athletes and sports, at all levels and in all areas of the country. CWSA Strategic Plan (2005 – 2010): Enhanced Capacity Considering the unique position of the CWSA within the Canadian sport system, work to achieve equitable access to national sport opportunities for all wheelchair athletes Enable effective, relevant communication and collaboration between, and among, the CWSA and its national and international partners and national and provincial members Enhance and maintain the electronic communication systems of the CWSA, in both official languages, to remain current with members and partners Facilitate and promote the hosting of high quality international rugby and powerlifting events in Canada Pursue funding opportunities that support the mission of the CWSA and do not place the CWSA, or the achievement of its goals, at risk Enhanced Interaction Represent Canada and Canadian wheelchair athletes to the IWAS, IWRF, IPF and IPC Work within the Canadian sport system to develop and nurture new and existing relationships with Canadian Sport Centres, provincial/territorial governments, municipalities and educational institutions to enhance performance effectiveness and efficiency for current and future national level athletes Enhance and nurture the partnership between the CWSA and the Canadian Paralympic Committee Enhanced Excellence Develop and deliver high quality programs and services to wheelchair rugby and powerlifting athletes, participants, coaches, officials, classifiers and administrators .
