Despite decades of suffering they remain devoted to their families and culture, and loyal to those whom they have allowed into their lives. The Karen people are perceptive and insightful. They do not forget, but they move forward with a strong will to survive and thrive in spite of adversity. It is this will to survive and thrive that we support, with humility and admiration. Our work is not based on what we think the Karen need. It’s based on friendship, and a common understanding that emerges from years of walking beside our Karen friends. We are like-minded people who are honoured to share in the journey of the Karen. This is Kleo. We invite you to share this journey with us.

Salus is a registered Canadian charity that for over 35 years has been an unwavering champion in meeting the rehabilitation and supportive housing needs of adults in the Ottawa area with severe mental illness. Our clients most fervent hope is to begin a road to recovery from mental illness. Salus was formed in the 1970s by a dedicated group of concerned parents, social workers, and doctors in the Ottawa area. Salus, a Latin word meaning “of health and prosperity” was chosen as the name of our new community minded organization.

At the Carlingwood Y, our doors are open for those who wish to get healthier, find support, and make friends for life. We're a place where children, adults and families grow together while focusing on their health and wellness. The Carlingwood Y is a 20, 000 sq.-ft. inclusive, community-based facility providing unique programs and services that meet the needs of the community. This centre offers access to cardio and strength equipment, a group fitness class studio, a cycling studio, a small pool for water fitness classes and children's lessons, a children's play area, and universal, men's and women's locker rooms. Sample programs include: Strength training and aerobic conditioning, group fitness classes, personal training, TRX classes, recreational and educational programming for all ages, inviting social spaces, and child minding services. Swimming lessons and water fitness classes are also offered. Free parking is available at the Carlingwood Shopping Cen
