Bill and Norma Adams are both retired teachers who are, themselves, active world travelers. Your hosts love the outdoors and enjoy meeting new people. They look forward to your visit. Knightswood, the area of Glasgow Scotland where Bill’s father and grandparents lived prior to emmigrating to Canada, was selected as our house name. The name Knightswood came from the area in Scotland where Bill’s father was born. The family emigrated to Canada in 1912; bringing the homestead’s name to Nova Scotia. Spend the early morning listening to the peaceful sounds of a waterfall or watching the koi swim lazily in the pond. This is one of many quiet areas of the garden our visitors can enjoy. Start at the foot bridge and stroll through lush, naturally grown, vegetable and flower gardens - we even grow grapes! At night the grounds are lit for your enjoyment - so make sure to take advantage. There are lots of things perfect for the weary traveller - why not listen to the crickets while enjoying a fire in our outdoor oven or snuggle-up and sip a hot beverage. “To say that we savored our stay at your property is to stress the obvious. The ambiance of the property coupled with the warmth and friendly reception will always be beacon lights that will make us return.” - The Dacany family, Mississauga, Ontario.

Officially opened in 1867, The Halifax Public Gardens have retained much of their original Victorian character thanks to a series of talented superintendents, chief horticulturists, and gardeners. Through their efforts, the Public Gardens were designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1984. In true Victorian fashion, the Gardens boast ornate fountains, a bandstand, statues, urns and a magnificent wrought iron entrance. Also among their treasures are over 140 different species of trees, including unusual or rare species and some centenarians. Their serpentine, scroll and carpet beds guarantee a bounty of colour and fragrance throughout the season.
