The Kelowna Falcons Baseball Club is the lone Canadian representative in the West Coast League (WCL), a wood bat summer collegiate league that attracts the best baseball players in the western half of North America. Many have compared the WCL to the legendary Cape Cod League in the eastern United States. In 2000 the Kelowna Grizzlies were purchased by the Nonis Family who changed the name to Falcons. The Falcons celebrated their 10th anniversary during the 2010 summer. Since becoming the Falcons, the organization has helped develop over 200 of the best collegiate players in North America. Some of the notable former Falcons are Nyjer Morgan (2000-Cleveland Indians), Chris Davis (2005-Baltimore Orioles) and Jess Todd (2005-St. Louis). There are currently numerous former Falcons climbing through the ranks of the Minor Leagues and could make their Major League debut as early as next season. The Falcons first started play in the Pacific International League (PIL) and competed in the league championship in 2004. The following year the Falcons along with six other teams created the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League (which became the WCL in 2009). The Falcons play their home games at historic Elks Stadium. In the eight seasons of the WCL, the Falcons have competed for the Eastern Division title in three consecutive years. In 2012 the Falcons saw a record breaking season on and off the field. Attendance and radio listenership continues to grow. The Falcons pride themselves on delivering an affordable family friendly atmosphere. Kids have the opportunity to run the bases after the game and corporate businesses are often celebrating with staff down the first base line with a corporate BBQ. Throughout the game Falcons fans have chances to win some outstanding prizes and compete in some fun themed contests. Come spend a night with the Kelowna Falcons Baseball Club in 2014 at Elks Stadium.
