Speech and Language Assessment As part of a speech/language assessment, a case history will be obtained by interviewing parents. The child's speech and language skills will be evaluated during play and informal observation. Standardized testing may also be conducted. With parents' consent, information from other professionals who interact with the child may be obtained. Speech and/or Language Therapy We will work with a child's family to set functional speech, language, and/or social communication goals. We use evidence-based treatment approaches, while always including the child's interests and making sessions fun! Consultation We are happy to consult to other professionals who may work with a child (e.g., daycare providers, other therapists). If parents prefer, sessions may be conducted in the child’s home environment. Home-based services are available in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and surrounding areas. GROUP SESSIONS In addition to the one-on-one sessions listed above, we also work in partnership with Accent Music Therapy to offer the social communication group described below. Speak & Sing 6-week program Sessions are available Tuesdays and Saturdays Speak & Sing is a social communication group designed for children with social, speech, and/or language delays. This theme-based program uses rhythm, instrument playing and singing to give children the opportunity to practice skills like turn taking, requesting, and participation in a structured group setting. Clients will receive a speech and language screening prior to the group and individualized speech and language goals will be identified and targeted throughout sessions. The program is co-run by Michelle Bodo, Speech-Language Pathologist and William Murray, Music Therapist. E-mail info@littletalkers.ca to schedule a speech and language screening and to hold a spot in the group!
