Welcome to National Diabetes Trust, Canada's largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service and the social enterprise of Diabetes Canada. With more than 5, 000 donation bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada, we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada. This helps support programs and research on behalf of the 11 million Canadians living with diabetes and pre-diabetes. But, we're more than just clothing donation collectors. We are an organization of dedicated professionals working with Canadians from coast to coast fighting to End Diabetes through waste diversion. Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million lbs. of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. Hamilton Food Share‘s purpose is to increase our community's capacity to reduce hunger. We do this by supplying much needed food supplies and short-term storage to food banks and hot meal programs. Additionally, our organization establishes community partnerships, donor relations and fundraising activities that support our food recovery operation. Our support is vital as the resources allocated by Hamilton Food Share defray costs for the emergency food programs and redirect these savings to other program areas. The second purpose of our organization is to work collaboratively across every sector of the community to bring about awareness of hunger, its root causes and the impact it creates for people in need. Mission To diminish hunger in our community by collecting and sharing food and other resources through effective partnerships that strengthen our response to hunger. Vision We envision informed communities actively engaged in the elimination of hunger ensuring all community members have access to adequate, safe and appropriate food choices. Values Statement We believe every individual has the right to daily sustenance and personal dignity. #We value long term vision, sustainability, and approach our mission committed to building awareness of hunger and its root causes. We recognize and acknowledge the individual and collective contributions made to and through our organization.
