Daryl Pooran, aka DJ Vibe, has established himself as one of the most prominent DJ’s in the Kitchener Waterloo and surrounding areas. He consistently creates an astounding level of energy and engagement on dance floors. He has the unsurpassed ability to read and respond to a crowd of any size. Through his efforts to advance the urban genre, DJ Vibe has secured a solid network of industry professionals. Among this impressive network, he’s proven himself to be professional, reliable, and ambitious. He was introduced early to the music industry through the work of his Father and Aunt, who are both successful recording artists. Even as a young child, DJ Vibe had an appreciation for the up and coming urban artists beyond those heard in the ?mainstream'. Visits with family in New York introduced DJ Vibe to cutting edge inner-city life, including underground urban music via mix tapes. The young DJ Vibe was truly inspired by the mixes on the tapes he acquired in New York, and began to follow suit. Vibe found his own style through model DJs doing it real big at the time, such as Chinese Laundry, FPM (First Priority Music), Funkmaster Flex, and Kid Capri, just to name a few. Vibe's other musical influences included Notorious B.I.G, Bob Marley, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, and Group Home. Outside the urban genre, Vibe also caught himself listening to Madonna, AC/DC, the Eagles, Josh Winx, Armand Van Helden, and Carl Cox. When he was about 13, Vibe found his first pair of used turntables and a used Realistic mixer and started to practice. With equipment that had no pitch control and limited ability for scratching, Vibe devoted countless hours to experimenting and learning how to mix and manipulate music. Moving from Mix Tapes to House Parties, he was building a positive reputation in the local community. House Parties gave Vibe the experience necessary to perform at a higher caliber in local nightclubs.
