The GYD Company was formed in 2008, by Janet Johnson and Catrina von Radecki as a means of further celebrating, enhancing and training young dancers. Now in our 8th year of the Guelph Youth Company, we have some very strong, talented, ambitious and highly creative dancers who perform together regularly in events such as Hillside Inside (Guelph), DanceOntario Weekend (Toronto), Art Harvest (London), Carousel Dance Centre (Waterloo) and in a variety of locations in Guelph including the Guelph Dance Festival. These same dancers have worked with some of the best dancers and choreographers from across Canada including David Earle (Guelph), Karen Kaeja (Toronto), Lina Cruz (Montreal), Suzanne Miller (Montreal), Jordana Deveau (Toronto), and Anik Bourvrette (Ottawa).

Our mission at The Guelph Academy of Dance is to provide dancers with an intimate atmosphere where students flourish under professional instruction . We are a non-competitive art focused dance school where the emphasis is placed on pursuing the art form, enjoyment, and proper training, not on competition. Our qualified and experienced instructors will work to enhance each student’s confidence, strength, and love of movement. The studio offers children’s classes in Creative Movement, Ballet (RAD), Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. In 2014ur studio was delighted to offer classes to over 400 dancers each week having grown from 75 in 2006. We are thrilled to announce that in 2014 The Guelph Academy of Dance has won the Platinum Award for BEST DANCE STUDIO according to the Guelph Tribune’s Reader’s Choice Awards. In the past we have been voted gold as Best Dance Studio and in 2011 we were voted Diamond as Best Dance Studio according to the Guelph Tribune and 2012 we were voted gold for Favorite Dance Studio by the readers of the Guelph Mercury. Our director, Briana Lynch, has been repeatedly voted Favorite Dance Teacher in 2010 and 2012 according to the Guelph Mercury.

It seems like only yesterday that Dimensions in Dance opened its doors in the K-W area. It started as a small dream and now today, has become KW’s leading dance studio. Dimensions in Dance has been in operation in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for the past 26 years. It is a family owned and operated business lead by Studio Director - Kimberly Kay. Dimensions prides itself on its motto “A Studio With A Difference”. The studio and its staff are renowned for the highest calibre in technique, choreography, and their love of children and the Arts. Team-spirit and commitment is ingrained in all of the dancers. The studio offers classes both at the Recreational and Competitive levels. All students are encouraged to become the best dancers and performers that they possibly can be. Competitively, Dimensions in Dance is the leader in Southern Ontario. Dancers have competed all over the continent bringing back countless awards and scholarships. Many talented young dancers have been invited to attend workshops, shows and competitions overseas. The teamwork, confidence and self-discipline that comes from training at Dimensions provides an excellent base for future education and career choices. The studio offers classes in: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Hiphop, Lyrical and Acro. Students range in age from 2 ½ years to adult. The faculty at Dimensions is comprised of approximately 10 of the most energetic, caring and qualified industry leaders.

We are a dance competition that celebrates all types of dance in a fun-filled, organized and professional manner. We are truly unique in that we separate the ballet from the other genres of dance, we offer free workshop classes to everyone and we offer a unique ‘presentation stream’. The ballet section of our competition is called ‘En Pointe’.
