Horrible end to a good start. I had sod and driveway done with interlock trim down the driveway. At the beginning it was all help and about the customer, great customer experience and pricing was fair. He started the job as requested, within a couple weeks, and worked diligently. Things turned for the worse when he made a mistake on the driveway and as a paying customer I asked to get it fixed. He did the driveway paving late at night after another job first therefore the asphalt was not as hot, he could not see and he ran out of asphalt. The end of the driveway dipped down lower right before the curb and water pooled at the end. Not only that, but the rolling was a terrible job and left ridges in the driveway. He started pushing back saying I was overreacting and it was not a big deal. I was obviously not happy with the result so asked that it get fixed. Begrudgingly he ripped up part of the driveway and redid the end as well as cutting down the curb a bit to fix the draining issue. He used a compactor instead of the roller, which now the part he patched was compressed differently and pieces were flaking off. I was expressing my concerns when he started to push back and kept saying the original work was done and he pushed to be paid. I was not willing to pay until my concerns were addressed. Without notice he filed to put a lien against my property to push for payment even though I was well within a 28 days of what he felt was a completed job. He broke stones down the side of my house when he drove his machine in the backyard for the lawn work. As he caused the damage, he said he would replace it. He could not find the same stones so attempted to use another stone I had extra that did not match. I was not happy so provided a compromise that instead of him buying all new stones at his cost down that side that he use one from the other side and replace it with another design I had (this this was lower traffic area). He was careless with the work and did not fill the extra river stone around the patio stone as full as I had been asking. He damaged work in the front garden and did not return it the same so I had to ask him to fix it again. I asked the lawn to be raised in certain areas but he did not do it, this was something I had to go out and correct. He pushed back on every decision we had to make to make his job easier. I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone. He is rude, an oppressor and not a professional. Do not hire this company or individual for any job.

The review is offensive. Please review my response and response on the better business bureau. http://www.bbb.org/ottawa/review/53750/ To provide another example of the work place courtsesy provided. The customer had asked if there was work that she could do or he uncle could do. The customer had recently had foundation repairs done and replaced interlock at the front and steps. I had suggsested drainage options opposed to leaving existkng drainage burried near the surface. I said that that stairs where they foundation repair was done were uneven and won't meet the asphalt flush. The customer said if there's anything that you can do but did not want to pay for additional work. Some of the steps were lifted and recompacted so that water would not pool in front of the stairs. I informed the customer that when backfilling happens from foundation work there is settling unless the backfill has been compacted which means there will be shifting/ sinking. There was a piece of parging a few square feet. I had said that should be done when the interlock and asphalt is done. I said I could show the ho.e owner so that she could do the remaining repairs around the house. I explained the steps for parging : typical delamination of concrete; hitting it with a hammer and removing lose concrete, applying a bonding agent before mixing or applying any parging. I used weldcrete, the customer watched this process. I explained that typically you let the parging setup, scratch coat it with a piece of metal and then sponge finish after. I had rearranged my day so that I could apply the bondi mng agent and show the customer because of the other needed parging work. The customer left, I quickly sponge sanded the parging without scratch coating. There was no charge fixing the damage. The homeowners disinterest and disregarf for my time resulted in quicker free parging. To the oppressor comment. It is extremely offensive and an in accurate and inappropriate contextulaziation. Jill vickers describes oppression as a system of forceful subordination that includes some or all of physical harm, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural denigration and economic exploration. This is a defined term from Reinventing a Feminist approach. IBSN 1 895686 78 4 I definitely care about gender equality and extended beyond a reasonable courtesy to the customer. I encourage the customer to share pictures of the work. The work that was completed as agreed and the woro the customer requested that was advised against. http://www.bbb.org/ottawa/review/53750/ The customer before the work began asked that I cut the concrete curb at the end of the driveway. The driveway has approximately three feet of slope from the top to the road. The driveway drained. The customer complained that there was a ridge in the center of the driveway and said that she was not happy. I said that I could cut the curb and adjust the asphalt but it wouldn't look as nice and didn't recommend it. I erroed in not collecting payment for the work when the agreed work was completed. Additionally after adjusting gbthe driveway it was sealed at not cost to the cutomer. The customer is encouraged to post the pictures of the work. The subcontractor working confirmed that the water drained. The additional cutting and coring company hired also at no cost to the home owner had only nice things to say about the driveway and didn't want to do the work. He said if it doesn't drain fast enough we could put holes in the curb and laughed. I advised the customer when I said I could have the driveway adjusted that it drained, was safe and met the interlock flush. Three neighbors requested estimates from the work and there were two additional requests from people passing. The back yard was excavted with a piece of equipment, a bobcat MT85 for efficiency. Note that it was also rototilled There were two cracked patio stones that I asked the customer if I could use the patio stones leaning on the house to replace because I could not source a match. The customer said that was fine. After I installed the patio stones she said that it was no good and jad another idea. If I were two move the patio stones around and add stepping stones and riverrock on the other side of the house I could make everything match better. This was also done at no cost because the customer was withholding paymmet for approximately half the work, about $10 000. After the work was completed I requested to be paid. The customer also asked that I do additonal curb work for interlock her uncle had installed. The additional work ws completed with out issue after the driveway was done. There was also an change in the work and sod work done on the area shared with the neighbor in which the side of the driveway was weeded as the weeds encroached the new sod. The home owner behind the customer had hired a landscape lawn company that drove/mowed over a portion of new sod at the side of the house. It was also needed that this be fixed and was done at no cost The customer chose to have additional work completed. There was an agreement for work. The customer decided that she shouldn't have to pay when agreed work; the driveway was completed. There were numerous reasons to indicate a possibility of non payment: Some of which included Horse shopping. The customer is a consultant, and did not want to yield to advice regarding the asphalt. The customer should have mailer or sent payment promptly. I was asked to return to pick up payment where she had a neighbor different that the ones quoted accost me. He said that we was only there as a wittness. I said that i had agreed to provide an invoice when payment was received. The neighbor reposned thats what this is, she's paying you. The customer did not pay for all the work. There was not any damaged not replaced. In fact damage from another landscape company was repaired. The customer was referred from a friend. During this non payment process the friend had me return to advice on her lawn. I installed sod from Peterson, confirmed that is was fresh and there were no issues. When replacing a few pieces of sod for the friend and advising on over seeding she said that there was a problem with the lawn mower and it died during the initiall grass cutting, accounting for the clilpings left over the lawn and sod that was damaged. The work is complete. The driveway drains, the asphalt meets the interlock flush. I could have provided more free riverock to do the additional patio stone work. The customers request were all met even when advised against. The customer slowed the work process and is going beyond a reasonable extent to disrupt business and marketing.
