It is a perfect storm when a business owner is also the general contractor on his own project. Our complete team was moved off other projects and on to this one to accommodate the very short ten day window the business owner had given us to complete the work so that his school could open in time for the next semester. Our company completed all of the work as assigned and successfully achieved both rough install wiring approval and completed electrical inspections install approval by the City of New Westminster. The work was completed and the school was able to open its doors on schedule. Six months later the business owner comes back to us and claims we did not complete the work and is demanding we do so at no cost to him. Six months later “really” This is additional work not shortfall recovery. The whole job was rushed: Their heating plan was inadequate so they spent the winter plugging in high demand heaters on to normally balanced circuits resulting in blown circuit breakers. After six months they were able to see what should have been in their original plans ;( at least ten additional circuits) and they are now asking for this work to be done at no cost to them. To mitigate their costs and accommodate them as a customer to complete their new assessment of the work, we have offered them our top team in a wages and materials only cost to them. They have refused this offer. There was no contract spelling out the work to be done just a deadline and a set of construction plans that went through changes on a daily basis. We stand by our work and our people the City of New West would not have passed the work if it was sub- standard or inadequate. This group has turned responsibility on their part into blame on our company because they do not want to pay for work that would be classed as additional work on any other project in this country
