This heritage house built in 1928 served as home to Colonel Lendrun, in an old British enclave of the area. The Colonel was well known as principal of Cowichan High School. This quiet location is just 2 km east of downtown Duncan and VIU, is close to shopping, excellent restaurants, entertainment and outdoor activities. Jacquie will make you welcome and provide personal touches such as cozy dressing gowns, in comfortable rooms. The Vista Room with queen and two twin beds is quiet and spacious, perfect for a quiet get-away for a couple or family. Enjoy a view of the garden, mountains and valley. A good supply of toys is available for children. The Heritage Room features an antique double bed and view of the garden. Jacquie's delicious breakfasts served in the Fireside Room are designed especially for you and are loved by all her guests. You will not leave hungry. Relax with afternoon or evening tea from fine china cups in the Sitting room or veranda then stroll Jacquie's spacious gardens, that have been featured on the Annual Cowichan Family Life Garden Tour. You will have free access to WiFi. Share travel stories and be delighted and intrigued by Jacquie's 200 hand made ethnic dolls collected from her many travels. To help you get the most of your stay, we can arrange whale watching, wine tours and tickets for the famous Chemainus theatre. As Jacquie is an avid hiker she can direct you to local trails such as the Kinsol Trestle, Mt. Tzhouhalem, or Cowichan River Trails. Sun Lotus Life Center is situated on beautifully picturesque land in the Cowichan Valley of Vancouver Island. Sun Lotus is dedicated to bringing the joy of yoga to members of our community and the world. We welcome volunteers throughout the summer to help us lovingly build a garden-sanctuary, a testament to selfless-service & inter-cultural cooperation, that promotes peace, harmony and environmental awareness. We strive to present a model lifestyle of sustainability and awareness through various yogic practices, primarily meditation, asana, chant, selfless-service and vegetarianism. Further, with the use of recycled, re-used, found, fabricated and gifted materials -- Sun Lotus tries to provide a living example of how creativity can curb consumerism, waste and consumption and the profoundly negative effects it has on the environment and individuals. Vision & Goals Our vision for Sun Lotus in the next few years is to create a perma-culture organic food-garden both to become virtually self-sufficient and to model sustainable home-scale food production. The eventual goal of the Sanctuary will be to get "off-the-grid" and to become a "hub" which brings together people of like mind, in a connected, kind and sustainable community. our dream!
