SCI-PEI assists survivors of SCI and other people living with physical disabilities to achieve independence, self-reliance, productivity, and full community participation. SCI-PEI achieves this through peer counselling, client service delivery, creating educational and employment opportunities, and providing community advocacy. Nationally, May 7th has been designated SCI Day, and May has been designated SCI month on PEI. SCI-PEI was incorporated in 1990.

go!PEI is a community-based healthy living program that offers free physical activity and healthy eating programs for Islanders across PEI. go!PEI is designed around providing information and supports to assist all Islanders to make simple changes to their lifestyle to improve their overall health and quality of life. The go!PEI team is made up of provincial partners (Cycling PEI, Island Trails, PEI Flavours & PEI Healthy Eating Alliance), Regional Sport & Recreation Councils and Municipalities. This group works together to provide opportunities for Islanders wishing to make a change to their personal health. Through these partners, go!PEI delivers free programs all across the province focusing on walking, running, biking, hiking and healthy eating activities. The Prince Edward Island 55 Plus Games Society Inc. is a community based volunteer and not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors and is comprised of citizens interested in the objects and purpose of the society. We are dedicated to the prevention of water-related incidents and the saving of life in aquatic environments across Canada. Worker coops can be more satisfying than working for the man. Worker-owners aren’t forced into a hierarchy, and they have more say over what the business does than traditional employees. You still have to be responsible managing a coop, maybe more so, but your coworker-owners will likely be nicer and more understanding of personal needs and quirks than middle-management at any corporation. You will probably make more money by cutting out the investors and managers, unless you were one of them, in which case: welcome to egalitarianism! In typical low-paying industries, worker-owners can make several times what they were pulling in as employees. For example, in Petaluma, California, Alvarado Street Bakery worker-owners take home around sixty-thousand dollars a year – a Hell of a lot better than working for minimum wage. As a worker-owner, you are less likely to get laid off, both because coops prioritize steady employment over short-term profits, and because they are more sustainable than their conventional counterparts.

Enriching the lives of Canadians Special Olympics Canada. Enrich the lives of Canadians with an intellectual disability through the power of sport. Help our athletes build the strength to overcome the challenges they face every day. Special Olympics uses the medium of sport to assist persons with an intellectual disability to become all that they can be - physically, mentally, socially, emotionally - and to become accepted, respected and productive members of society. Our goal is to provide sport opportunity to every individual with an intellectual disability across Prince Edward Island. We do not exclude any potential athlete because of financial constraint. We acknowledge that Special Olympics PEI's programs take place on unceded Mi'kmaq territory. Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) is covered by the historic Treaties of Peace and Friendship.
