I believe that therapeutic change occurs through a supportive, caring and trusting relationship building upon a client’s unique strengths and resources. I consider clients to be the experts in their lives, and with support, encouragement, and appropriate interventions, they will find solutions to a wide range of human difficulties. I practice Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

Here at New Hope Counselling Centre we believe in dealing with the root problem not just psychological symptoms. For decades the primary focus of psychology has been on the symptoms, which frequently leads to the resurfacing of the problem once again. We take care of your root issues so that your symptoms are resolved. Offering you hope for a better tomorrow. We can help. There is hope.

***Currently offering online support during the Covid 19 Crisis. Counselling and Psychotherapy Services in Downtown Burlington for individuals, couples & families. You are most likely reading this page because you are seeking an answer. Perhaps you have a broken heart, a deep fear or sadness you cannot seem to shake, or a relationship you want to improve. Maybe it is a smaller concern, but one that still prevents you from experiencing the happiness you desire. Most of us accept that life has its ups and downs. But sometimes the storms of life overwhelm us and we feel we cannot cope. Sometimes the wounds are just too deep to ignore. We reach a point where we realize we need something more than our own attempts to fix our problems. It takes courage to reach out beyond ourselves and seek professional help.

For over a decade now, the following values have guided our practice at Halton Spiritual Counselling: Relationships: the match of client and counsellor is the single most important factor in any healthy counselling relationship; look around and be selective in the process Safety: above all, clients should feel safe, secure and unconditionally supported on every step of their counselling journey Listening: the best way to ensure clients are respected is for counsellors to be empathetic listeners who guide the conversation but allow clients to be themselves Experience: wisdom and life experience are the best teachers available to us; choose a counsellor who has a mix of both Action: a thoughtful, yet proactive, ‘do something’ mentality is the most effective approach for clients who wish to grow through counselling Emotion: emotions carry great weight and need to be valued and recognized for the power they hold
