Built in the 1760s, the exterior of this small farmhouse looks like a typical country home, but inside it boasts a collection of fine art and furnishings that create an air of Georgian elegance. In 1964, Robert Patterson bought North Hills and made it a showplace for his impressive collection of antiques, including English porcelain and oak, mahogany and walnut furniture. Through his efforts to establish a local restoration society, Patterson became a popular and valued member of the community and was an early member of the Nova Scotia Heritage Trust. Visit North Hills Museum and be charmed by the history and culture found in this unique home, located in the heart of one of North America's most historic regions.

The Annapolis Basin Conference Center is known as one the most comprehensive event venues in Maritime Canada. Our modern facilities, extensive meeting rooms, accommodations, full theater, recreation facilities and spectacular sunsets will ensure your next conference is unforgettable. Our newly upgraded facilities, culturally diverse cuisine and spectacular ocean scenery set the stage for a fresh approach to learning - and leisure. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy learning. Situated on the southern shore of the Annapolis Basin, HMCS Cornwallis was the largest of a succession of military installations which have occupied this area for almost 400 years. Named after Edward Cornwallis, the founder of Halifax and governor of Nova Scotia from 1749 to 1752, this state-of-the-art military base was put in place in the early 1940’s to address the need for training sailors to serve in WWll. During the war years, HMCS Cornwallis was the largest naval training base in the British Commonwealth with the wartime strength of the base exceeding 11,000 officers, men and women. Due to military downsizing, HMCS Cornwallis closed its doors in 1994. The military base that served thousands of our proud troops sat quietly and awaited its next adventure. Surrounding the Annapolis Basin Conference Center is Cornwallis Park. This business park is recognized internationally as a model of innovative development and Cornwallis Park employs more civilian personnel than when it was a military base. In addition to English and a Second Language Training Courses, the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre is also proud to provide facility and hospitality services for all Pearson Peacekeeping Centre programs. The Centre is an internationally recognized peace operations training institution supporting Canada's contribution to world peace and security. And military boots still tread across our floors.
