Founded in 1965 as the Home Welfare Association, Meals on Wheels (MOW) is committed to delivering nutritious meals to senior citizens, physically challenged and vulnerable members of the Winnipeg Area. We value the personal contact and caring provided by our volunteers as well as every client’s right to the very best service we can offer. We take pride in the responsible management of our human, physical and financial resources, and in providing the highest quality product. 2015 marks Meals on Wheels’ 50th anniversary. In 2012, approximately 160, 000 meals were served by a dedicated team of volunteers. We are a non-profit registered charity. There are five full–time employees who manage the administration and approximately 300 volunteers who deliver meals 365 days a year. We are governed by a Board of Directors and funded by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), The United Way and The Winnipeg Foundation. We have a collaborative relationship with 13 facilities. Our meals are prepared at the WRHA Regional Distribution Facility and transported to Winnipeg’s nine hospitals for pick up by our volunteers. There are also four independent facilities that prepare food for our clients: Park Manor for the Transcona area, West Park Manor for the Charleswood area, St. Amant for the St. Vital area, and Gwen Secter, which provides kosher food for all areas of the city.

The Metis Child and Family Services Authority exists to strengthen and support the health and well-being of Metis and Inuit families and communities. Today, with the creation of a Metis and Inuit specific child and family services system, we are taking control of our destiny as a people - building a solid foundation of support for Metis and Inuit families now and into the future. This means working together with our agencies, our governments, our community and other key stakeholders to create Metis and Inuit specific solutions that are responsive and sensitive to our collective history, experiences, culture and values. And by weaving together a holistic array of quality mandated and prevention/support based programs and services, we aim to build the capacity of Metis and Inuit families and communities to care for themselves and each other.

Manitoba's Youth in Care Network was started in 1995. After a bit of 'placement bouncing', Voices was brought under the stewardship of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg in January, 1998. We celebrate our 18th birthday September 2013! The program currently has one full time and one part-time youth outreach workers staff. We have an advisory committee which consists of former youth in care, a C.F.S. Social Worker, a foster Parent, a supervisor of a residential care facility, a community development consultant, and Manitoba's Children's Advocate. The network is active in community awareness, youth outreach, advocacy and networking.
