The Manitoba Aviation Council (MAC) is an organization representing the aviation community in Manitoba. Its members include representatives from airports, air operators/carriers, and those who service, maintain and repair aircraft. Versatech Charitable Foundation was established as a registered charity in 1988 by a group of families of adults living with an intellectual disability, who wanted to create a place with activities and support programs that would cater to the specific needs of their loved ones. Today, Versatech Charitable Foundation addresses vocational, social, communication, and recreation needs in Winnipeg, helping many individuals each day, through supporting a variety of programs and services. Our mission is to support programs and activities that help people with intellectual disabilities to gain contributive and valued roles in society through teaching and guidance, and encouraging independence and integration into the community, thereby maximizing their quality of life. We believe that our support will introduce programs, services, and activities to an underserved population of intellectually challenged individuals. These programs will meet changing physical and intellectual needs, and new business activities will provide challenge, sustainability, and interaction with co-workers from the greater population. As a result, we anticipate an increased number of people integrating into the community and gaining awareness and acceptance, and enhancement of cognitive and motor skills. The costs of supporting programs for this commendable purpose depend on the program or activity. As well, sustaining costs are ongoing in our efforts to supply these much needed services. An investment in our Foundation will contribute to the operational funding we need to accomplish our mission.
