Yukon Conservation Society educates, advocates and conducts research on Yukon environmental issues. Been doing this since 1968. The Yukon's Peel River Watershed is one of the largest and most beautiful intact natural areas left in North America. Industrial development threatens to fragment this stunning landscape and harm its delicate ecological balance. The Peel watershed is the northern anchor of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, and part of the Canadian and international campaign to protect the boreal forest. Conserving the Peel Watershed is important for all of North America. The watershed is critical to the survival of wide-ranging wildlife, it's an ancient cultural landscape for First Nations, and the region supports a burgeoning tourism industry.

The KPMA was established in 1974 by 56 placer miners who gathered in Dawson City to promote and protect the interests of their industry. Since that time, the KPMA has flourished and includes almost 100 family-owned and operated placer mines across several treasure-laden regions of the territory. We are a member-driven, non-profit advocacy group that continues to advance the Yukon's placer mining industry on all fronts. Purpose To promote the interests and conserve the rights of those engaged in the placer mining industry in the Yukon. To promote sustainable placer mining and placer exploration in the Yukon. To promote best practices for placer mining. To provide educational information to the public on modern, responsible placer mining and placer exploration. Membership Your membership and support of the KPMA is integral to the continued health of the territory's placer industry. In addition to effective promotion, advocacy and education, membership lends benefits such as access to specialized training opportunities . The KPMA also acknowledges and appreciates the many service and supply businesses - big and small - who are members that support our work, our industry and its substantial contributions to the Yukon economy.
