North End Gallery is one of Whitehorse's premier destinations for Yukon art. Located on the Whitehorse Waterfront in Yukon, Canada, the gallery showcases Yukon artwork, First Nations art and crafts, and fine gifts produced by Canadian artisans. We represent Yukon artists who work in a variety of media. Yukon painters are often inspired by the vast Yukon landscapes. Sculptures are created out of natural materials that are iconic to the Yukon, such as mammoth ivory, moose and caribou antler, sheep horn, and muskox horn. Jewellery features trade beads, gold nuggets, mammoth ivory, and hand-carved silver.

MacBride Museum illustrates the Yukon’s history, with a focus on the role of Whitehorse in the development of the Territory. MacBride Museum is a non-profit society with charitible status. We rely on the financial support of individuals and corporations to put forth a rich variety of programs and exhibits, and to care for our community's valued collections. Vision MacBride is a dynamic museum, dedicated to promoting the value, understanding and enjoyment of Yukon history. Mission MacBride Museum will be a community place for Yukoners to share the stories of the Yukon and Whitehorse. MacBride will be a place to illustrate our history and provide opportunities for everyone to learn and create new experiences. MacBride Museum History In 1950, a group of far-sighted Yukoners dedicated to the preservation of heritage started the Yukon Historical Society, the first organization of its kind in the Territory. Co-founder William MacBride was an employee of the White Pass & Yukon Route Company, and was able to salvage outdated transportation equipment for posterity. The Yukon Historical Society soon acquired the unoccupied Government Telegraph Office, built in 1900 and still located on its original site. In the 1960s this building housed the growing collection, and was open to the public as a museum during the summer. Volunteers were responsible for all the activities of the YHS and later the MacBride Museum Society until the mid-1980s when the first curator/director was hired. D. (Bill) MacBride was born into a Montana railroad family on January 29, 1888. Orphaned as a baby, he was raised by relatives Nellie and Frank Miles. MacBride graduated..

The Yukon Transportation Museum brings to life over 100 years of transportation history in the Yukon. Follow the stories of the early bush pilots as they struggled to make community access easier. Hike the Chilkoot trail alongside the intrepid stampeders as they forged their way by boat, foot and train to make it to the storied riches of Yukon’s Klondike gold fields. Hear the tales of the people that shaped the Alaska Highway, the road still essential to life in Canada’s famous Yukon. At the Yukon Transportation Museum you will see, read, and hear about the rich history of the north through lively stories and the interesting, detailed and surprising size of displays.

Our mandate and priorities are centered around culture, identity and sport. The Canadian Heritage Portfolio includes the Department, five departmental agencies, nine Crown corporations and one administrative tribunal. The organization structure illustrates how the Department is organized to ensure a place for Canadian voices and perspectives, to support excellence, and to reach Canadians from all walks of life.
