Here at Grevpode Gallery our 2 resident Artists Charlie “Poppa” Wilson and Madge “GRANNY” Wilson create Folk and Outsider Art in one, two and three dimension. We also represent Evan King and have several pieces that are a combined effort of all the artists of Grevpode Gallery. Each piece is unique and usually very bright and colourful. As Folk Art does not follow the mainstream of the art world we are free to combine mediums. By not being limited to one media as most artists are many of the pieces have been “re-lifed”, old ceiling tiles have become roof tops, old rafters become fish birds and even people, fence posts become pigs. In the hustle bustle of life today rarely do adults take the time to enjoy the small pleasures including remembering happy and silly times from their childhoods. This is what Poppa creates. What about his carved “people” that range in size from small children to an over six foot tree stump called “PANHANDLE PETE”. Usually just their fashion sense is enough to help relieve the tensions of a stress full work day. Imagine artwork such as painted benches that can actually be sat on.
