Once in a while we are asked, "Will it work better if I believe in acupuncture?" You do not need to "believe in" acupuncture for it to work. Western research has proved that the needles work whether or not the patient believes they will. Wear comfortable clothes for your visit. We usually put you in a lying position either facing up or down for your acupuncture treatment. The practitioner will ask questions regarding your medical history, current complaints and overall health status which relate to your health issues. Then your pulse will be taken and your tongue will be inspected for the shape, colour and coating. All the information acquired from this consultation enables the practitioner to make the proper diagnosis and plan a suitable course of treatment. This consultation will take 15-30 minutes. Length of treatment sessions If you're receiving your first treatment after the consultation, your total appointment will last about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour and a half. Subsequent visits will vary between 50 and 60 minutes. Number of treatments The number of treatments necessary depends upon the nature, depth and seriousness of the disorder. It also depends on your response to the treatment and how well you follow the practitioner's recommendations. At Pan-Zeng Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Centre we have special interest in facial rejuvenation acupuncture, sports injury and infertility treatments . Medical plan coverage As of April 1, 2008, acupuncture is covered under BC's Medical Services Plan supplementary health care benefits. As well, many insurance companies cover acupuncture treatments.
