A world-renowned festival of performing arts for young audiences, the Vancouver International Children's Festival has been educating, entertaining and inspiring young audiences since 1978. The Vancouver International Children’s Festival moved to Granville Island in 2011, after 33 years at Vanier Park. Why Granville Island? The decision to move the Festival to Granville Island was made with great deliberation. We all love Vanier Park, but the best artistic work in the world today requires technical support that we cannot provide in tents. At Granville Island we have access to theatrically equipped venues, and plenty of outdoor spaces. Granville Island is a vibrant, creative hub and home to numerous cultural festivals and events. It offers the environment and opportunities to take the Festival into the 21st century. Despite the many challenges still facing us, we know it was a move in the right direction. The Vancouver International Children's Festival Society is a non-profit charity registration no. 11883 3532 RR0001.

SIGMA is the hub of knowledge transfer of menopause and related issues. It will link up with menopause clinics and menopause practitioners across Canada to share knowledge, to act as advocate for menopausal health in Canada, to provide up to date knowledge to our patients, and have a unified voice in Canada to speak for the women in Canada. SIGMA is a leading source of information on menopause for physicians and patients. The SIGMA Canadian Menopause Society (S) is dedicated to advancing the health of women in Canada at and beyond the menopausal transition. We will accomplish this through a multidisciplinary and inter-professional network of Canadian health care providers dedicated to the care of women at this stage of life. We will facilitate and support research, education, knowledge translation and public education in menopause. SIGMA denotes the Special Interest Group in Menopause and Aging; “S” the capital Greek letter is commonly used to indicate a summing up activity, a mathematical expression that reflects well our vision to combine the many voices and interests of menopause into a whole. The concept of SIGMA was first raised over a decade ago following the publication of the first Menopause Consensus document in 1994. For two years, concerted efforts were made to develop a multidisciplinary group within the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, but for various reasons this did not come to fruition. Nevertheless, the idea continued to be nurtured over the years, and in January 2008 an independent, multidisciplinary group was formed, consisting of family physicians and specialists interested in menopausal and postmenopausal health. SIGMA Canadian Menopause Society was launched in May 2008 in Madrid, Spain, at the 12th World Congress on Menopause sponsored by the International Menopause Society (IMS). At that meeting, our founding members, listed here, began the work of establishing this multidisciplinary group.
