We are a group of average people on a journey with an extra-ordinary God. We are, first of all, a community of people who care for one another. Then we are a community of people trying to follow Jesus. We believe that we see God most clearly in Jesus of Nazareth, in his life and teaching. Doctrinal statements don’t say as much as we would like them to say. The ethos of a community — the way its members relate to one another and to the neighbourhood around — is hard to put into point-form. This is why Paul is so intent on making his statement on love in 1 Cor. By our love we make Jesus known. We hope that when you are with us you feel the presence of Christ.

The Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay was incorporated on July 25, 1986. It was prior to this, in the summer of 1984, that the early beginnings of the Society began in the home of a family caregiver. Over the years, many milestones have included the opening of an office; hiring of staff; the appointments of several presidents to the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the development of many diverse programs and services.
