St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay was established to support the works of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie, which includes St. Joseph’s Care Group (SJCG). The Foundation is a separate organization working in cooperation with St. Joseph’s Care Group. Our objective is to raise funds that support capital purchases for the Care Group. Monies raised by St. Joseph’s Foundation are used strictly for equipment and capital purchases not funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care or other funding agencies – not for the funding of staff positions at SJCG.

The Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay was incorporated on July 25, 1986. It was prior to this, in the summer of 1984, that the early beginnings of the Society began in the home of a family caregiver. Over the years, many milestones have included the opening of an office; hiring of staff; the appointments of several presidents to the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the development of many diverse programs and services.
