Port Kells Nurseries and Garden Center is a family owned and operated full service retail garden center with the long-standing distinction of being a premiere garden center. Since our start in 1992, we’ve grown from a tiny, 2, 700 square-foot lot to 37 acres and over 30, 000 square feet of greenhouses. We now boast a staff of more than 50 knowledgeable employees. Port Kells Nurseries History Rene Duineveld was born in Holland and worked on the family flower bulb farm. In 1982 he immigrated to Canada where he found work in the British Columbia horticultural industry. Rene soon found another passion, but it was not plants. Rather, it was in a lady by the name of Joanne. It was not long after that he and Joanne were married. Ten years after coming to Canada, Rene realized another dream. In 1992 Rene and Joanne opened the doors of their own business... Port Kells Nurseries. Now years later, with their four children and a fantastic passionate staff of more than 50, Port Kells Nurseries has become one of the neatest and interesting garden center in the province with a selection that is second to none. With the main garden center and the nine growing locations, Port Kells Nurseries is able to supply a very wide and interesting variety of plants for professionals, home owners, and plant lovers alike.
