Modern Dance  is the technique  based on the natural movement of the body and is designed to increase body control and coordination. Routines are set to modern and contemporary music. Students begin class with a centre floor warm-up, followed by across floor combinations such as leaps and turns. Class is ended with a fun routine taught using familiar chart music.

The first stumbling steps in the life of Sudbury Theatre Centre were the direct result of The Awkward Stage, a book that reported the findings of a 1967 theatre study funded by the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts.
