Back then, there were no large electronic stores like Future Shop or Staples in Sarnia. Personal computers had just come onto the market and brand name PCs were very expensive to own. We saw an opportunity to open a store which supplied custom build PCs that were much more affordable. Our business grew at an overwhelming rate as computers quickly became a necessity for businesses and then for homes. Datatek became a corporate partnership company and expanded to become one of the biggest computer retailers in town. At one time, Datatek had more than 20 employees working for us. The recent bad economy affected every business including Datatek. More than two years ago my business partner decided to take her retirement so I took over the whole operation. With a team of skilled technical professionals, I was confident that we could continue to provide the best IT service in town. We have been through this tough recession and with our dedicated team, Datatek has survived. Looking back over the years, many computer stores have opened and closed. I am very proud that Datatek is still here serving Sarnia. At Datatek, we sell brand name computers and laptops from Lenovo, Toshiba, HP, etc. We still build custom computers for special applications such as CAD/CAM and high end gaming. Being an independent business with trained professionals, we can supply and service just about anything computer related.
