Rich in the history of the fur trade, voyageurs and adventurers, Rocky Mountain House is at the heart of the North American Bicentennial Celebrations. (2007-2011). The Rocky Mountain House Public Library is committed to providing a comprehensive collection of local history. The Rocky Museum showcases the history of the pioneers who homesteaded in this area, worked in the lumber camps and sawmills, and sent their children to one-room schoolhouses. The Rocky Museum exhibits household effects of the farming families who cooked on wood stoves, rode to town in horse-drawn wagons, and hunted, fished and trapped for their food.
