The Central Alberta African Centre (CAAC) is a local charitable organization dedicated to addressing the community’s social, economic, education and cultural opportunities. Headquartered in Red Deer-Alberta, the CAAC is governed by an elected Board of Directors. The Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The CAAC was formed by a concerned group of local immigrants, and families and friends of the African Heritage who captured the Dream of a young African immigrant to Maximize the Potential of fellow immigrants as they settle in Central Alberta. Upon arrival in Red Deer (Canada) in 2001, the young African man was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of two major local Not For- Profit Organizations dealing with various needs of newcomers here in Central Alberta. And it is during that period when he developed the passion of involving young people of African Origin and other local immigrants in some community activities. This led to the formation of the Central Alberta African Choir in 2006, which became a component of the Central Alberta African Centre in 2008. MISSION / MANDATE: Our mission is to build, promote and foster unity, among all people of African origin, immigrants and friends of Africa in Central Alberta and Canada, through participation in enhanced education, social, economic and cultural activities.
