Margaret Cormie became the owner of Qualicum Physiotherapy Clinic in 1995. The clinic moved to our present location in 1999. Over the years we have built a team of indepepant associates working together to provide a full range of physiotherapy services to the community. Laurie Vanderhoeven joined the clinic in 1999, Janet Hepenstall in 2003 and Linda McCulloch in 2009. Cory Pahl who is an avid outdoor enthusiast especially cycling, kayaking and hockey, who brings his personal and professional experience to our community. We have developed programs using the local pool and gym facilities to help our clients regain their full fitness and quality of life. Often, our clients surpass their previous level of fitness and achieve higher physical goals than they had before their injury. My wellness journey began in my 20's with fitness and incorporated diet, nutrition and holistic health. I studied early childhood development and child, youth & adult psychology. This was followed by learning various models of communication including anger management, and conflict resolution. The love of learning and a deep passion for holistic education that is experiential and sensory based led me to Rudolph Steiner's Waldorf education, where my two children attended for the first ten years of their school life. From the very beginning, my focus was concentrated on finding more effective ways to change inner patterns, and behaviour, and to deal with the mysterious sub-conscious mind to do more of what I wanted, and less of what I didn't want. This process began expanding my thoughts, ideas and personal expectations. Throughout the years this untiring passion for knowing and understanding, 'why we do the things we do', led me to various 'Energy Psychology Modalities'. The term 'Energy Psychology' describes a new field of innovative interventions that balance, re-instate and enhance human functioning. It does this by stimulating the human subtle energy system by tapping or touching certain energy points on the surface of the skin, while simultaneously using modern cognitive interventions. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is getting to be known as a 'Powerful Energy Psychology Therapy'. It draws upon various theories of alternate medicine including, Acupuncture, and Thought Filed Therapy (TFT). I came across it via the internet and quickly incorporated it as a modality. I then added Matrix Reimprinting - a method to change our relationship to our past without being re-traumatized. These two modalities made changes quickly, and effectively and gave me an easy protocol to follow when reprogramming the subconscious mind.
