The chiropodists at Whitby Family Footcare Clinic provide foot orthotics from 3 dimensional casts of your feet. A biomechanical examination of you feet and lower extremity is conducted to identify structural problems that are causing you pain and discomfort. you will be asked to walk to observe how these structural problems are affecting your feet and lower legs. The information complied from you examination is used to produce a detailed prescription which will be used to fabricated your foot orthotic. The casts of your feet and the prescription are sent to an accredited podiatric foot orthotic laboratory where your foot orthoses are manufactured. The foot orthotic lab uses thermoplastic materials that are suited to your activity level and foot problem based on a prescription. When your foot orthotics are dispensed we give you guidelines on the break in period. this break in period can take up to 2 weeks. If you have any problems with you orthotic after the break in period we are able to adjust or modify your orthotics in our office without the need to sen it back to the orthotic lab.
