Dog Grooming Services Markham

Step 1. Preparation At this initial stage, the groomer will thoroughly examine the dog, mainly looking for hail tangles/knots/mats and skin abnormalities Then the hair will be brushed thoroughly for the first time, and dematted if necessary. Often at this stage, hair length and style is set according to owner’s choice, which means the whole picture is drafted but details are left for later. Extra ear hairs are plugged using ear powder and fingers/tweezer. Certain breeds such as Miniature Schnauzer, Poodles, Shitzus etc., have extensive ear hairs that need to be plugged regularly to keep the ears clean and healthy, also to find early signs of ear disease. Step 2. Bathing Now the dog is ready to have some water fun! It’s also time to determin which shampoo will be used. All dog shampoos used in our salon are proven to be safe, while providing a good finishing effect. Whitening shampoo helps white dogs look more white, hypoallergenic shampoo soothes sensitive skins, oatmeal shampoo replenishes dry skins, etc. Dog owners are also welcome to bring their own shampoos, as well as medicated shampoos for their pets’ special needs. Whenever necessary, a second shampooing is applied for the best result possible. And special care is given to areas like pads, back end, muzzle, eyes and ears. Following the bathing, the dog will be towel dried and blow-dried. In order to avoid accidental over-heating in cages, cage-drying method wil NOT used in our salon. Blow-drying is also a way to straighten the curly hairs for breeds like Poodle, Cocakpoo, Doodle, Yorkie, Shitzu etc., so that a smooth look can be achieved eventually. Sometimes nails are trimmed after the bath when they’re softened. Step 3. Finishing Now the dog is clean and fluffy, smelling good! Ears will be cleaned using ear cleaning solution. Hairs are trimmed by scissoring, finalizing the style, according to breed standard AND owner’s preferences. Bows, bandanas, cologne are applied, again, according to owner’s preferences. Then the dog will be ready to go home, looking and smelling good!
