West Coast Aquatic is the first organization of its kind in Canada. In 2001, Canada’s first co-management body under the federal Oceans Act (1996) was ratified by Federal, Provincial, Nuu-chah-nulth and local governments. West Coast Aquatic held its first meeting in Port Alberni in February 2002. WCA is designed as a forum for communities, government, businesses and people from all walks of life, to plug into.
