The initiative was established and continues to grow with the support of the Canadian Council of Archives, Library and ARCHIVESCANADA.ca and the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Culture Online Program. "We need more information about our history, our culture and our heritage, " said Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, in launching the initiative back in 2001. "Partnerships like the Canadian Archival Information Network web site make a valuable contribution to the creation of Canadian reference resources and play an important role in fostering shared values. They are deepening our understanding of our country, its institutions and its people." Through the ARCHIVESCANADA.ca national database, hundreds of individual archival institutions across the country (each with holdings such as documentary records, maps, photographs, sound recordings, videos and more) regularly produce descriptions of these holdings, and make those descriptions accessible to the ARCHIVESCANADA.ca portal via their provincial/territorial network. The ARCHIVESCANADA.ca portal also provides links to virtual exhibits and photo databases residing on the web sites of individual archives or Provincial/Territorial Councils. In turn, ARCHIVESCANADA.ca provides searchable access to these entries with links to participating institutions. ARCHIVESCANADA.ca is an ongoing project that benefits Canadians of all ages from coast to coast, by making the contents of archives increasingly accessible to everyone, thus enabling us to explore the richness of our Canadian past. ARCHIVESCANADA.ca has the support of governments across the country. In addition, the Canadian Historical Association, provincial/territorial councils of archives and professional associations of archivists have endorsed it as the most important single effort in the history of Canadian archives.

The Canadian Post-M. Education Registry (CAPER) is the central repository for statistical information on postgraduate medical education in Canada. CAPER maintains individual-level data for all postgraduate medical residents and fellows. Data is gathered on an annual basis from all 17 Canadian Faculties of Medicine. CAPER records capture data throughout postgraduate medical training as well as ongoing practice location following post-M. training. The Annual Census of Post-M. Trainees is CAPER’s flagship report. It gives a detailed statistical profile of post-M. trainees in Canada, including: The numbers and types of physicians being trained in family medicine, surgical, laboratory and other medical specialties; The socio-demographic characteristics of postgraduate trainees, such as age and sex distribution; The distribution of post-M. trainees across provinces and Faculties of Medicine; The numbers of international medical graduates (IMGs) and visa trainees studying in Canada; The number of residents and fellows exiting post-M. training programs; Ongoing practice location of postgraduate trainees following training. CAPER publications and services are designed for statistical and research purposes. Data collection is carried out according to strict privacy policies and CAPER promotes best practices with its data sharing partners. Established in 1986, CAPER is a partnership of professional medical organizations and federal/provincial/territorial governments. CAPER’s work is made possible through the financial support of its contributing members. We would like to acknowledge and thank our contributing partners for their support of the Canadian Post-M. Education Registry.

The Tunis Shrine No. 179 was founded in 1975, by a noble and honorable group of Masons dedicated to the idea that Masonry could be enjoyable and fun. Devoted to ideals of benevolence and charity, like other such Shrines across North America and even the world, they set out to meet the challenges of creating such a dream affectionately known as a Shrine. And so the story goes on even now after more then 40 years, to discover that the Tunis Shrine No. 179 as met with level heads and with meek hearts all of the challenges encountered along the journey. Still today they carry the torch as a light and beacon for others to follow in their footsteps, imitate their example, and heed the call, especially for those children who truly need their assistance and love.

Through our Seeds of Survival program, USC Canada’s primary goal is to build food and livelihood security in small-holder farming communities within the global South. Specifically, our core programs are located in countries where our partners and offices support farming communities in some of the most remote regions and on some of the harshest of landscapes, where people have little access to external resources. By working in three different ecosystems – mountain systems, arid or semi-arid systems, and semi-humid systems – USC and its partners are amassing a solid base of knowledge that can be shared amongst and between the farmers, scientists and practitioners involved in this work, as well as a broad group of actors outside our immediate circle.
