Tykes was est. in 1999 by Peggy & Craig Vitek. With over 30 years experience Peggy oversees the operation of Tykes. Located @ 3250 Simcoe St. in the Village of Columbus. (5 min. north of U. I. & Durham College in Oshawa, ON.) Situated on just over an acre of property there are 2 buildings and over 7000 sq. of natural treed playground. All equipment in the playground is CSA approved. Five foot high fences were installed rather than the required 4 feet as an added safety feature. Our classrooms are bright and cheerful with lots of exterior windows for natural light and interior windows separating the classroom, a great way to observe the children playing without disturbing the programming. Our goal is to provide a positive day care experience, it's a big step placing your child in the care of others and we try to make this transition easier for both the child and Parent. Many state that when they come by to view the centre the atmosphere is warm and friendly and that staff are very helpful. Our Supervisor, Isobel Beeken is readily available to answer any of your questions and help with any problems you may have. Isobel is known as Ms. Bell and is dedicated to the welfare of the children and held in high regards by their Parents Our programming staff are qualified and experienced to provide an age appropriate program for the children along with a nurturing environment where your child's happiness and well being are the top priorities.
