Ditching diets how Lindsey is changing her life with keto

Lindsey was able to loose 50 pounds in under 5 months with her change to a keto and low-carb lifestyle. Read her story below to learn about her journey! I have been big my entire life - for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, I played every sport in the book so at least I was able to manage my size to some extent due to being so active. After High School, I gave up playing all my favourite sports as life got busy and began gaining weight rapidly. In my early 20’s I gained over 150 pounds and lost all my confidence, self-esteem and had a hard time loving who I became.

Following my weight gain, I tried every diet you could possibly think of. I would lose and gain, and lose and gain, and lose and gain. At one point in my mid 20’s I lost over 100 pounds by trying not so healthy “diets”. Once I lost the weight and started living a normal life again, I slowly gained it all back.  It was an endless struggle every single day. Not a day would go by where I wouldn’t let my size get in the way of how I was feeling physically and emotionally. It has literally ruled my world for as far as I can remember.

 Recently married my best friend and our dream is to have a family one day. I knew at the size I was it would be difficult to have a healthy pregnancy without complications, and of course wouldn’t be able to live an active life with my children and teach them how to live a healthy life. Together with over the years my husband and I have tried many diets, but this time we were looking for a lifestyle change.

In early 2019 we got a membership at our local gym, and decided to start eating low-carb, which shortly thereafter evolved into Keto. We haven’t looked back since. We absolutely love this lifestyle as we are both finding the athletes in us again and can still eat our favourite foods - bacon cheeseburgers (no bun) and we have “steak Sundays” every week (and seriously what’s better than that)?

n the last 5 months, my husband and I have lost over 110 pounds combined. I am so proud of our accomplishments but know we have a long way yet to go. I have no doubts that we will reach our goals. Since we started this new lifestyle, we feel so much stronger physically, mentally and emotionally and this is only the beginning.  We are so excited to continue this lifestyle well after we hit our goals.
