Relaunch of the HireGround Job Board

2014.07.15

The HireGroundJobs.com Job Board is undergoing a complete redesign process!

We’ve focused first on improving the candidate experience:

  •     A mobile-friendly interface allows users to search and view jobs easily on their smartphones and tablets
  •     A clean look, simple navigation and fast page load time
  •     No need to log in or create an account, simply search and apply for jobs directly
  •     Improved search and browse functions

We’re carrying the redesign out in phases. The first phase will enjoy the above features but will not operate in the same way that the outgoing version does. We will be adding greater functionality in stages, however this first iteration will affect employers in the following ways:

  •     Employers will email their job postings to info@HireGroundSoftware.com. Our staff will post the job and notify you once live. Previous employer accounts are no longer accessible.
  •     Candidates are directed to apply either through your own online system, or via email.
  •     All existing client jobs will display on the new system (no reposting required).
  •     Jobs will still cross over to the Indeed, SimplyHired, WowJobs and Trovit job sites.

We trust the HireGround Job Board will continue to deliver great results for your job openings.

It's Time to Ramp up your Speed of Hire

2014.07.15

With Western Canada’s low employment rate and increased demand in several categories (skilled trades in particular), recruiting is becoming more competitive.  The top applicants have their pick of jobs, and those employers who are too slow to make an offer will miss out. Speed of hire is becoming essential to remain competitive.

Unlike the last few years, with high unemployment and little competition for talent, many recruiters could take their time and still land top candidates. As the competition for talent increases, employers will have no choice but to revisit speed of hire approaches and tools in order to land those candidates in high demand. Not only should the hiring process be reviewed, but the candidate experience plays a big role in attracting that top talent.

Where’s the hold-up?

From advertising a job, to screening resumes, to scheduling interviews, each step of the recruitment process unarguably takes time. This process can be streamlined through various software systems, applicant tracking included.

Another snag in the hiring process is the application itself. Applications processes that are time-consuming or difficult to navigate become a block to bringing in candidates. Why spend time filling in a lengthy and frustrating form when there are companies that accept uploaded resumes or simple answers to a few questions? Why find a laptop or desktop computer when I’m already on a tablet? Why create a username and password, when all they want to do is simply submit an application?

Ramp it up

Technologies today facilitate the use of mobile, and encourage a straightforward and easy-to-apply system.  The key is getting the right data from the job seeker without making the application process arduous and time consuming. Whether this is enabling mobile applications, offering customizable question forms or parsing in a resume, today’s software is making this easier than ever. Companies that do not adopt these technologies may find less and less candidates applying, when they need just the opposite.

We have all needed to create an online account, whether for booking an airline ticket, purchasing a book, or reviewing our banking information. Remembering the multitude of user names and passwords for all of these applications is a big job. Now, newer recruitment technologies have determined ways to eliminate this account creation and therefore eliminating a block when applying for jobs. All data collected is still kept secure and safely tucked behind firewalls. Job seekers are able to now quickly apply without this initial hurdle to overcome.

Attracting candidates, and taking them through the hiring process quickly will become necessary to hiring competitively in the coming years.
