Chiropractic Back Treatment - Mississauga
2014.09.23
About 80% of the population will experience back pain at some point in their lives.
There are many options for back treatment and it may be difficult to figure out which back treatment is right for you.
Chiropractors are primary health care practitioners who are highly trained to diagnose and treat conditions related to nerves, muscle, joints (bones), ligaments and tendons. Chiropractors commonly diagnose back pain and provide back treatment for a variety of back conditions.
The most commonly known back treatment from a chiropractor is “spinal manipulative therapy” or “adjustment”. This form of treatment involves inducing gentle movement into joints that are misaligned or not moving well to allow for improved movement, function and decrease pain.
Many Chiropractors use other forms of therapy in addition to adjustments to treat back pain, such as:
Electrotherapy – the use of therapeutic current applied to the area of pain to help decrease inflammation, swelling and pain or to reduce muscle tension.
Prescription Exercises or Rehab – Chiropractors are highly trained to provide prescription therapeutic exercises and rehabilitative care for more complex injuries such and sprains/strains of the low back and other areas including the neck, shoulders, knees and ankles.
Diet/Nutritional Counselling – Chiropractors are trained to provide diet and nutritional counselling. Changes or modifications to your diet and nutritional status in combination to Chiropractic back treatments can help to improve healing and overall back health.
Acupuncture – many chiropractors are also trained in acupuncture. Acupuncture as a form of back treatment can help to decrease pain and inflammation, decrease muscle tension and improve joint function. In adjunction with Chiropractic treatment it can help to speed up recovery.
If you are not sure what back treatment is right for you consult a Chiropractor. Seeking treatment from a Chiropractor can lead to proper diagnosis and effective care. Chiropractors can also help to direct your care and recommend you to the proper health care professional when indicated.
