The school-Alpine Trails Nelson was born in September 2006 with 8 students. Nine years later, 86 students from kindergarten to Grade share a quality education in French. The beginning of the 2010 school year, announced the opening of our new offices in the old school AI Collinson, a few kilometers on the north shore of the city of Nelson, or the other side of the famous orange bridge. Situated in a picturesque natural environment, the Nelson region has an ever growing francophone population base. Our school provides access to education in French in the West Kootenays. The support of the West Kootenay Francophone Association (Afko), which has over 500 members, allows our school good foothold in the region and contribute to the cultural and linguistic vitality of francophone students. The school promotes the growth of the Francophonie and encourage a greater number of francophone families to settle in the region.
