Charlotte Uens lived a long, productive and happy life. She was lively, bright, sweet and popular amongst her family and many friends. She came from Guelph as a very young woman; she was a teacher and taught in a one-room country school in Camden East. While there, she met and married Arch Uens. The young couple took up residence just outside Napanee on the Uens farm where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Throughout her busy life, she was a partner to her husband on the farm and worked full time as a teacher, while caring for her elderly parents as well as her sons. Charlotte was an avid reader and a vibrant contributor to her community. Charlotte Uens gave a report on current events and world affairs at every Women's Institute meeting. Her son Stuart, established the Charlotte Uens Education Fund with the Napanee District Community Foundation in memory of his mother.
