The Jesuit Archive in Canada witnesses to the activity of all the Jesuits who worked in Canada and its foreign missions since the arrival of the first companions in 1611. It recalls the memory of their living faith, of their efforts, of their spiritual values, and of their institutions. The Archive serves the ongoing administration of the two Canadian Provinces, that of French Canada and Haiti and that of the Jesuits in English Canada. Its role is also to ensure the acquisition of documents, books, and works of art as well as appropriate historical artefacts relating to Canadian Jesuit history; to conserve them; to render them accessible, and to make them known.

GRIS-Montreal (Groupe de Recherche et d’Intervention Sociale) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure a better awareness of the homosexual and bisexual reality and to make it easier for gays, lesbians and bisexuals to integrate into society. As is the case for the fight against racism, the integration of any minority can only be achieved by trying to eliminate ignorance and prejudice. Since the values of our youths are being shaped in school and since schools are where knowledge takes precedence over ignorance, GRIS-Montreal focuses most of its actions in the school system, providing demystification of homosexuality and bisexuality workshops to establishments in the Greater Montreal Area.

On the first weekend in March, dozens of English and French-speaking youth traveled to Montreal from the four corners of the province to attend the second annual Young Quebecers Leading the Way forum. The weekend event provided Quebec youth with an opportunity to discuss their role in Canada today and exchange on critical issues such as Social Issues and the Environment, Politics and Democracy, and Canadian Identity. Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Youth Take Charge program, and led by the Quebec Community Groups Network, Young Quebecers Leading the Way is a three-year project that engages hundreds of young Quebecers in the celebration of the sesquicentennial of Canadian Confederation. in partnership with the Association for Canadian Studies and the Institut du Nouveau Monde, the project is overseeing three annual youth forums where participants aged 15 to 25 offer their views on the significance of youth engagement in shaping the future of their country.
