As you know, the austerity agenda we’re facing is all about attacking workers and we’re all hurting. However, racialized workers and other equity seekers are feeling the impact hardest in our communities. More racialized workers are in precarious or low-wage jobs than white workers. Union leaders like yourself understand well that if we are going to fight austerity, then we need to do it together and make sure we support and engage more racialized workers in the labour movement. The event is from 10:00am to 3:00pm in Hamilton. It will be educational and focused on hearing from community activists on the ground from groups like Black Lives Matter, talking about issues like raising the minimum wage, how unions can organize within communities and not just workplaces, and strategizing how best we can all work together to fight back.
