At HUMED Natural Medicine Clinic, Paul Lewis, the owner, is a Registered Acupuncturist and Osteopath in Ontario and is a member in good standing with the CTCMPAO and the G.O.C.O. He has been performing Traditional Chinese Acupuncture for 20+ years and has experience working at a variety of physio & wellness clinics including for 15 years, at a Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto. Paul is a Human Energy Management Specialist and an Acupuncture expert. Acupuncture when performed correctly, does not hurt. There are no side effects. 14 meridians run throughout the human body. In total health, energy flows freely through the meridians in a balanced way. When an injury occurs, or one becomes sick or suffers from stress & anxiety, some of this energy becomes blocked. The body experiences pain, numbness and/or fatigue. Fine sterile needles as thin as a strand of hair, are gently inserted into the blocked meridians in order to re-establish the proper flow of Chi. As the energy begins to flow again in a balanced way, pain, numbness and/or fatigue disappears and the client becomes well. In Western terms, Acupuncture stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and sends a message to the brain to release the 'happy chemical' endorphin. Pain, stress & fatigue begin to decline. The body is relaxed & reset. Osteopathy works with the musculoskeletal system to remove circulatory, spinal, and lymphatic blockages. The body strengthens, realigns and circulation is improved through adjustments and Shiatsu massage. Acupuncture and Osteopathy are wellness treatments and can be used to maintain total health. They balance the body, mind & spirit, and help with overall energy, mood and mental health. Both therapies harness the innate healing power within all of us and can be combined together into one treatment for a more powerful effect. Cupping can also be used to help move blood and detox. Paul works with the client through the process and uses empirical based methods
