My name is Amanda Youssef, Founder and Director of Valley Connections Counselling. I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor, and Certified Meditation Instructor, providing counselling and psychotherapy to couples, individuals. and groups from Dundas, Hamilton, and the surrounding areas. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, and I am LGBTQIA positive. People come to me when they are facing relationship difficulties or break ups, postpartum challenges, depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, and difficulties with life transitions; problems that impact most of us at different stages of our lives.
I utilize evidence-based counselling approaches that fit each individual client or couple, and their respective goals. I see counselling and psychotherapy as a collaborative journey and process, which I navigate together with my clients. I help people to deepen their own wisdom and develop skills so they can better face life’s challenges, heal wounds, and grow. I believe people are resilient and adaptive, and that everyone needs help sometimes. My strength is relationships! I use Imago Therapy and skills from the Gottman method in my approach to Couples Counselling. This means that you and your partner will learn strategies to better communicate, navigate conflict, and build a culture of appreciation and a nest of safety in your relationship. If you are struggling with relationship issues or a break up, come to individual counselling sessions on your own, bring your partner to couples counselling sessions, or come together to my Building Healthy Relationships group. I offer Postpartum Counselling in the comfort of your own home OR you can bring your baby with you to your sessions in my office. My work is infused with mindfulness-based therapies.
